Lumsden Summer Street Markets

Brimmer and Co. will be present at the Lumsden Summer Street Markets this year.

We will be selling burgers, hotdogs, chips and cold drinks.

The Market dates are June 11, July 9 and August 13. All markets will be held at the Lumsden Rink.

Getting Busy

As the snow finally starts to melt, we are getting more and more calls for projects along with road closures due to flooding.

At this point we are already booking a few months ahead. A note if you are looking to replace windows this summer - now is the time to have us out to take measurements and get those windows ordered, as they can take months to come in from the factory.

Ice Fishing Shack

As a side project Brimmer has been working on an ice shack of his own design. He wanted something that would be easily transportable, warm and functional.

This shack has 2 parts - the bottom which slides into the truck box. The roof, then is lifted on and attached with bolts.

The seats are dense foam insualtion which is always warm, even in -40.

The dutch door system can be opened as a normal door, or separately in 2 pieces.

Lastly, the little stove sits on a metal lined shelf up out of the way. Rachel scored the stove from a friend who is an Industrial Arts teacher.

Second time out we caught this burbot - which makes these ridiculous size 15 boots look small! Here they are next to a DVD to show the size of the boots (16" long by 6" wide). It has been estimated at a weight of 15-20lbs.

We cooked him up in bite sized pieces, wrapped in bacon... DELICIOUS!

March 7 2011:

Caught 2 nice 6 pound burbot, followed by this Monster Pike!

She measured in at 38 inches, 14 pounds. We'll be eating good tonight!!

Spider Burgers at Lumsden Scarecrow Festival

Lumsden Scarecrow and Pumpkin Festival was another success! The weather was top notch... ok, a little windy, but its Saskatchewan. The temperature was 25 degrees and the sun warmed our faces - what more can you ask for on the first week in October?

After the amazing response last year to our "Spider Burgers" we also added a "Spider Dog" to the menu thus year. In case you didn't get a chance to pop down ands try one of our delicious snacks - a spider dog is quartered on each end to form 8 "spider legs" and can be added to a burger to make a spider burger!

BEFORE & AFTER Home in Lumsden Sask

Originally this bungalow had vinyl siding directly over-top original cedar siding. The home was stripped and insulated with R10 foam.

The upper portion of the home we covered with locally milled ship-lap log siding. The bottom 3 feet we outfitted with river rock for a very striking look. The home does have a wood burning stove. On the exterior wall outside where the stove sits we built forms and made a stone "chimney" up the side of the house to keep up the looks of the log cabin.

The rock has zero maintenance once it is in place and sealed. The log siding, will need to be stained every other year or so as needed.

When the original siding was pulled off the home, it was discovered an old deck on the side of the house wasn't even attached. It was decided before applying the new siding that the deck would be replaced and wrap around the back of the home to accommodate the new garden doors.

We built this back deck in 6 different levels, for a nice sprawling deck with a large dining area with custom table and benches. Two smaller areas leave room for more intimate settings for 2. All this was planned to maximize the view of the beautiful Qu'Appelle Valley.
